Phan Van Long was born into a difficult family in Tam Ky, Quang Nam. However, due to his talent from a young age, when 11-year-old Long, SHB Da Nang entered Quang Nam to recruit troops, the boy Phan Van Long himself registered to participate and win.
In the first time in U17 QG 2013, Van Long immediately became the pillar to help SHB Da Nang win the championship. That year, Van Long also held the title of top scorer and best player.
Successful performances in young tournaments, the SHB Da Nang striker caught the eye of coach Guillaume Graechen and the French teacher gave Long a place at the Vietnam Under-19 team. At the same time with Cong Phuong, Tuan Anh, Xuan Truong, Van Toan …, Phan Van Long used to make a fever in Vietnam U19 shirt at the Southeast Asian U19 tournament in 2014 on My Dinh National Stadium. Phan Van Long scored a super product of Myanmar U19 net in the semifinals, with a speedy exit situation, eliminating the opponent’s defender before throwing an outside cheek to shake the opponent’s net like a masterpiece of Dennis Bergkamp entered the Argentina team at the 1998 World Cup.
Phan Van Long was then given the opportunity twice by Miura coach, as well as Park Hang-Seo, who convened at the M-150 Cup in Vietnam U23 squad. However, due to repeated recurring injuries, Phan Van Long did not have many opportunities to compete and participate in important tournaments.
After the success in Vietnam U19 shirt, Van Long was then highly appreciated by the media, considered a new discovery of Vietnamese football in general and Da Nang in particular. A few months later, the original Quang Nam midfielder was honored by Le Huynh Duc, the first coach to attend V.League 2015 at the age of not yet 19. However, the career of this player was stalled when he came to Team 1 SHB Da. Nang. The competition with so many senior members of the Han River team made Van Long unable to find a position in Le Huynh Duc’s squad. And it took 3 years for Van Long to get his first goal at SHB Da Nang, in the 3-0 victory over Than.QN in the quarterfinals of the National Cup.
